Accommodation:- There are 4 well
appointed, self-catering lodges all with their own pool.
Kingfisher Lodge - Sleeps 6 comfortably, and has an upstairs room
that the kids will love. Kingfisher is built of stone and thatch
and is everything a traditional game lodge should be.
Louries Lodge - An old fashioned farmhouse that has been converted
into a tourist lodge. Lourie has the kind of "stoep"
that Africa made famous. It has everything that a family would
need in terms of catering. It sleeps 6 comfortably and can take
8 if necessary.
Hornbill Lodge - is stone and thatch and only sleeps 2 people.
It is a perfect bush hideaway for that romantic weekend.
Bushshrike Lodge - A lodge with a difference! Bushshrike is actually
a thatched tent that is positioned on an elevated platform. This
is a very rustic lodge with a splash pool and braai area.
Tented Camp - Kudu also offers a tented camp
that can accommodate up to 12 people.
Activities:- Include game viewing,
hiking, bird watching and because of the rich cultural history
of the area, the farm boasts ancient rock paintings as well as
remnants of old settlements featuring the unique building style
of the people who occupied this area hundreds of years ago.
Wildlife:- Kudu Canyon has been
stocked with over 50 species of game including such rare antelope
as Sable, Bontebok, Nyala, Gemsbok and Red
Hartebeest. Rhino, Giraffe, Zebra and Blue Wildebeest are also
found on the farm. In excess of 300 bird species have been
identified on the farm - all of the Kingfisher species have been
seen excluding the Mangrove. Both the Black and the Fish Eagle
have established breeding sites on the faces of the canyon and
sightings of both these raptors are common. There is a large breeding
colony of both the white-breasted and the reed cormorant on the
dam. The lesser weaver has also set up a colony there. The
dam is well populated with very large crocodiles, and hippos have
been seen. The sight of a python snaking its way across the dam
is also fairly common.
Access:- The Waterberg Mountain area is part
of the Bushveld district of the Limpopo Province, a two and a
half hour drive north from Johannesburg on the N1.
Child Policy:- Children are welcome at Kudu Canyon
and is the ideal holiday getaway for families.
Power supply:- There is 24 hour
electricity to all rooms.
