Location
Kololo is not just 'another' safari option in that the
reserve offers guests the unique opportunity to commune and live
with nature in pristine bushveld unfettered by fences around the
accommodation area. The reserve is spread over 3 000 hectares
of African bush which consists of open savannah grass plains,
thick bushveld, mountains and valleys and due to the fact that
the Big 5 are not resident on this reserve, but only 1km away
on the neighbouring Welgevonden Game Reserve, the guests are able
to make full use of mountain bike trails, many hiking and walking
trails, or riding on horse back through this area.

Activities
Classified as a safe game
reserve means that no dangerous animals reside on the reserve
and guests are free to explore the many walking trails (from 2
- 30 km), either on foot or by mountain bike. Our resident game
ranger is available to accompany guests on guided walks and game
drives. Wile away the afternoon, sitting quietly in the bush with
a pair of binoculars in what can best be described as a birders
paradise. Swim or fish in the river.
Wildlife
View impala, kudu,
rooi hartebeest, blue wildebeest, zebra, eland, nyala, waterbuck,
giraffe, blesbuck and bushbuck as well as smaller species such
as duikers, mountain reedbuck, klipspringer, steenbok, bushpig
and warthog. Bird watchers will enjoy over 300 species of birdlife
which are indigenous to the area. A malaria-free area and home
to a large variety of game, Kololo is a perfect safari destination.
Visit neighbouring reserves and view the Big 5 - lion, leopard,
elephant, rhino and buffalo, or enjoy a sneak preview over the
fence, from the comfort of your chalet at Kololo.
